I purchased the Jaclyn Smith 7 ft. Cashmire Pre Lit Slim Model Christmas tree on November 12, on sale for $79.99, regularly $150.00. We went ahead & put the tree up that same week and was very happy with the purchase. The week between Christmas and New Year's, the lights on the top portion of the tree quit working, so we took tree down, packed up neatly in its original box and attempted to return it. The staff at the K-Mart on Donelson Pike, Nashville was quick to point out that the note (handwritten) on the doors to the store state that Christmas merchandise could not be returned after December 25. I stated there was nothing on the receipt in my hand that stated this and they were adament that that was their policy and did not even offer to locate another or similar tree. I left and the following Friday, January 18th, called the 800 customer service line provided by the store and shown on the internet and they indicated they could not help me and kept referring to their policy of no returns on seasonal merchandise after 30 days. The store's receipt does not indicate this nor does the return policy shown on the K-Mart Website. I am very upset that a brand new Christmas tree cannot be returned and I am stuck with a tree that I will now have to add additional lights too. I would be satisfied if they would provide me another tree but since it is almost February, I doubt very seriously there are any trees left. At this point, I just want my account credited for the charge of the tree purchase (I'm not even asking for cash back, just a credit to my account).
