After seeing their ad for jobs paying up to $15 per hour for Store Detectives, I decided to go check it out. The secretary was having a tough time talking to me while she played with her sidekick. She then asked me how the weather was out and I answered. 5 seconds later she asked - what did you say?
When I got in to speak to the "Executive Officer, " he ran down a list of the great benefits of this job. He very quickly mentioned the $169 up-front payment and repeated the benefits of the job. When I asked what the 169 was for, he said it was standard for fingerprints and background check. This set off a flag in my head because REAL employment agencies usually take the fingerprinting fees out of the first couple of paychecks.
He then told me I would have to take a test based on a little manual. That's when he asked for my credit card. I had one with me but I told him I forgot to bring it. Then he said - why don't you just leave some money down and we can start on your paper work right away. I told him I didn't bring any money with me and he gave me a look as if I annoyed the hell out of him.
That's when he quickly wrapped it up and said thanks for coming, if you change your mind, come back and see us any time.
