Personal report and experience from a customer 10/28/05:

In the phone conversation on 10/17/05 with Disa, I asked what I needed to bring in order to have a model made, she said, Bring everything you have and let me see where I can help you.

I brought 1 model that I had sewn myself, 1 pattern of this model drawn by myself, 1 earlier model made by a professional seamstress and its professional pattern. I also brought my scratch book, where I developed the look of my model (I'm a textile designer), as well as the fabric for the new item.

I arrived on 10/20/05 at 12.10 pm, gave a clear demonstration of my model to Ragga and Disa, pointing out the special features. I explained that the new model I'm asking to have made is going to be an exact hybrid of the already existing two models.

Disa and Ragga complimented me on my thoughtfulness and thorough work;they did not take any notes of my descriptions i.E. Positioning of pockets, etc.

The only new things were a pocket and the elongations of an existing part and seam which I drew on my patterns.

I offered to make a pattern of the hybrid model, if I would be given pattern making paper (as I did not have any) and come back to save their time. They declined.

However, with the agreement of non-disclosure, Ragga asked me if she could take a copy of the page in my book with my drawings on it which includes specifics like fold, seam and final measurements. Disa asked me to leave the two actual models plus their patterns.

Both pointed out to me the importance of the pattern maker making a correct pattern the first time, implying that they'll get it right; they advised me that if the pattern maker doesn't do the pattern right the first time, one should not waste time there.

Disa said it would take her four hours for the work and she will charge me $20 per hour (although our mutual friend told me she normally charges $12).

Disa said she'd make the model the following week and I could pick it up on Wednesday, 10/26/05. She might work on it over the weekend though, but would give me a call if that was so. I told Disa, if they had any questions at all, to give me a call.

Before I left we talked about their homeland Iceland, Raggas boyfriend, living here, ongoing fabric fairs and them being exhausted from working non-stop for nine weeks.

Early Monday morning, 10/24/05 I left a message to please do one straight line (instead of an angle) on one specific seam and to please give me a call if there's a question.

Later that day Disa called back saying she did not understand the message; she had already started over the weekend (without calling me).
I then sent her an email, which she received, with a clear drawing of the finished model advising her to see what she can do.

When I picked up the model on Thursday evening, 10/27/05, the fabricated model and pattern were not the same and both had significant faulty features, i.E. Seams where it says fold, pockets too low, seams missing or too long.

Disa said she got confused and did not realize what I meant until she made the pattern a second time (which is better, but still incorrect). Yet she did not make a model of that second pattern.

I asked her, why she did not call me if she was confused from the beginning and told her that the model and pattern are of no use to me.
She said: Call me on Monday, I'll work on it again next week first I have to do fourteen patterns for another client. I'm in a bad mood because I'm overworked. Later she said: Just tell me: Disa, you are in a bad mood!

I paid the $80 (she did not want to give me a receipt) under the agreement of further work being done, starting with a phone call next week.

The next morning I left a message asking for the correct model preferably done today as I have paid for it already, I offered to draw the correct features I wanted from the beginning onto her pattern and bring it by.

Since then my husband and I received nothing but insults and blame, lies and swearing from Ragga and Disa. They said that they had decided that right after I paid, they didn't want to work or hear from me again.

We have since requested a full refund, as they refuse to fix their mistakes - their pattern and the model are unusable, but received only further lies and insults.

Their business ethics are unbelievably bad!
Protect yourself: Don't believe them, don't pay before you have what you ordered. Or better still: take your business elsewhere!
