I had arranged a local move, via phone, with The Movers. I needed 2 men to load & unload their truck on 10/12/05 with an arrival time of 2-3pm. Dom originally had arranged the move (a week prior) and was very helpful and professional. On 10/11/05 I was forced to change the move to 10/13/05 as the seller was going to be late vacating the home I purchased. I spoke with Melissa and she said it would be no problem; the movers would arrive between 2-3pm. At 1:30pm on the 13th I called to see when they would be arriving. Melissa said she spoke with her driver 15 minutes earlier and they were still on a move that was larger than they had expected and they would arrive 'closer to 3'. No problem. At 3:30 I called back as no one had arrived. Melissa said she could not contact her driver. I asked if they were still coming out that day and she would not answer. I explained that I had no choice but to be out of the house that day and if they could not move me I would need to start looking for another company right then. She said they would be out 'soon. I asked if I could have a general time frame (so I could get dinner in the meantime). She became irritated and snapped at me that she could not guarantee anything and she would contact her driver and call me right back. At 4:00pm I called back but the phone immediately rang to voice mail. I left a message for Melissa to please call back and let me know if they were coming out. I continued to call until 4:40pm with the phone routing to voice mail each time. They never called back and never showed up. I was forced to hire 2 movers at the last minute. It cost me $100/hour and the move was not finished until after 10:00pm. I called Melissa back first thing 10/14/05 to ask for the owner's name. She did not know it. I asked for the manager's name. She only knew the first name and guessed at the last name. I told her she was very unprofessional and that I was contacting both her manager and the owner to make sure they knew how unprofessional she had been in handling this. If she had been a bit empathetic, or called back, or told me they would not be out I would have chalked it up to 'one of those things' and let it go but Melissa ignored me and my situation. I told her that I feel The Movers should pay the difference in their moving cost and what I had to pay and that she should apologize to me. She had nothing to say. So now I am filing a complaint with the BBB and they require an address for The Movers.interestingly, there isn't one that I can locate. I have been calling The Movers all morning to get that information and, once again, Melissa has forwarded all phones to voice mail...
