Ripoff - desperately need class action suit, ripping off people all over the US - CINGULARLY RIPPING PEOPLE OFF ONE AT A TIME!

My husband and I were satisfied AT&T Wireless customers who always paid on time for several years until Cingular came along and bought them out in December. If anyone wants to start a class action suit, let us know. WE ARE IN!

IF YOU ARE SEEKING TO SIGN UP WITH CINGULAR, DON'T! They are a complete rip-off company!!! They are like the funny fast food commercial you use to see on TV. The Manager saids, "We take there money here and we give them there food there." The employee said, "But Sir, what if it is wrong?" The Manager replies, "WHO CARES! WE HAVE THEIR MONEY!" as he proceeds to laugh. Better yet, do a search on Cingular Wireless, you will find over 356 reports against them since 2002. This does not include all of the rebuttals. That's over a full years worth of complaints and this is ours.

Back in March AT&T Wireless had sent us a new service contract for 2 years.in the letter it stated that if we chose not to sign the letter, the contract would be up within 1 year (March). We had opted not to sign and continue our year to year contract, as we had in the past.

When Cingular took over in December of we noticed a big change in service. It took 3 business days to receive messages through voice mail (which being a Sr. Accountant, is extremely important), we no longer were receiving the reception we had in the past (lost people constantly), areas which weren't roaming before all of the sudden became roaming, and 70% of the time my husbands phone would not even work (He would receive about 50% of his calls, but couldn't make hardly any).

We contacted Cingular several times about these issues:

*1st the resolution was for us to turn our phones off, then on to receive our messages. How do you know when to turn your phone off in order to receive a message from someone, in the 1st place???

*Then it was that we needed new phones. But in order to get new phones you had to buy them and sign a new contract with Cingular since the phones were Cingulars and not AT&T. What the??? Sorry Cingular, by our contract you are to service us, not us to you! In addition, my phone was only a year old and current in technology. Plus, our contract stipulate a new phone every year, free.

*So we decided that we would cancel due to there in ability to service us. NO, NO, NO; you can't do that! Then they will have to charge you $175 per phone (totaling $350) for cancelling your contract (mind you we never signed a Cingular contract) and if you don't pay it then it goes to collections. Wait a minute Cingular, you are defaulting on AT&T's contract by not providing us service.

Our final resort was to wait until the end of March when our contract would be over. But it didn't end there. Cingular Wireless is now trying to say that our contract will not end until March. We commented several times that our contract ended March and showed them the letters received by AT&T Wireless. They completely blew us off.

So in May, exhausted from all we had been through, we decided to place the phones on vacation to stop the billing until we could find a resolution. But low and behold in June we received a bill charging us for the service we discontinued 29.95 per phone for the vacation service. (a total of $311.94) By now I was on disability due to pregnancy complications. I contacted Cingular, but they refused to correct their mistake. I remind them of the non-service they were providing us that got us here in the 1st place and they threatened to place it on my credit with an additional $350 for cancellation tacked to the balance. THAT'S AN ALL TIME LOW, THREATENING THE DISABILED!

So I worked out a payment plan. 127.50 to be paid in July and August, with the balance of 184 due in September. We paid July's portion on June 29th (no problem). We paid August portion on July 30 (no problem, still no complaints from Cingular). But then August came along, just 2 weeks after we paid July's and they said that they were going to cancel us, tack on 350, and turn us into collections if we didn't pay the balance.

COME ON! DOES ANY OF THIS MAKE SINCE? Why would you forfiet a customer that you are trying to switch over who pays you over $200 a month, and you are forcing them to another 8 months service, for a mere 350 dollar profit? You do the math. I proceed to go over our earlier agreement, which they refuse to honor. I am transferred to litigations where we work out a new date of the 30th of August to pay off the balance, which mind you we never owed in the first place.

Today, the 23rd of August, I proceeded to cough up the remaining balance, which I remind you we do not owe, only to find out that they tacked on the $350 back on the 20th and are sending it to collections. So now they will not take the balance that was not due to them in the first place and are sending us to collections for over $500.00 I have, however, sent that balance payment in the mail to them, so if they send it back in refusal I will have even more amunition against the low lifes!

Do yourself a favor, never sign up with these guys. Don't let it even cross your minds. They are crooks and I hope that all of the people that they have ripped off now and in the past get together and finally place a stop to this non-sense.
