Received a bill in January stating that a call was made June 7. Bill was for over $600.00.
Phone in question had been disconnected for 5 months. Person alleged to have made phone call lived 3000 mi. Away from where phone call allegedly took place, and in fact was hiking at Lake Tahoe on honeymoon!
All of this can be documented obviously. When I called to refute bill, person was rude and if fact stated that he had a recording of the call. After research, I read that collection agencies cannot use recordings as proof of call as they don't provide reliable evidence.
We have received two bills, the second threatening to turn us over to a collection agency.
