I have been fighting MCI for over two years now. They were price gouging us with long distance calls when we were local. I would sit on the phone for 45 minutes every month to get credit. I canceled one phone account and they charged me for months. They then figured out (ya right) that my phone, because it was analog, would continue to charge the long distance. They sent a new phone and talked us into upgrading our service to $50.00 a month. We continued to get charged the canceled phone fees and long distance. We cancelled the entire account. I have now been fighting to get the credits due for months. They sent me a bill for over $277.00 and I owe 1/3rd of that bill!!! I have called and called and get recording after recording stating that the number is busy and call later. Then the jerks sent me to collections. I have e-mailed, written, called... Done everything but fly to their corporate headquarters. I am now going to file a small claims court case against the company. I did have luck with the collection agency, at least they answer their phones. They will put your account on hold and send it back to the main customer service area. Don't count on a return call though, I have'nt gotten one. I do, however, continue to get the bills. I also have a friend who never received the phone they ordered and have been getting billed ever since... I WISH I COULD HAVE GOT TO THEM FIRST.
