In January I saw an ad in the paper about casting calls and great opportunities for my then 11 year old son to do commercials possibly.
I called the number and signed up. They wanted a $99.00 fee for reasons I still do not know but it was for my son so I did it. I had to send pictures of him etc. They then sent me via E mail, directions on how to establish a web site for my son and gave me the password and user name I would have to use to access our web site to see if we had been offered jobs to modify his profile etc.
The first time I tried to use our web site I couldn't get on. I immediately called Showtime Casting and talked with a young man named "Seth" he told me how to get on the site and gave me his direct number to call him if I had any other problems.
From that point on I was never able to access our site and never able to reach "Seth" or any other person at that number ever again. I always got a vague recording. I called every month.
When November came along I had a message on my voice mail from showtime Casting the message stated that they were going to bill my credit card for my "Yearly Fee" and they left a number to call with any quetions. The number they left was not the number "Seth" had given me all those months before.
Needless to say I immediately called the new number and a person answered right away. I explained to her the whole story and told her I wanted a refund (which by the way in the beginning they promise you a refund of the start up money if you are not satisfied within 30 days)
She repeated my billing info to me and assured me the money would be refunded within 7 to 10 days.
I checked my credit card 14 days later and no money had been refunded. I called the number back again on November 18th and another woman helped me, repeated my billing info to me and apologized and said that alot of people had not received their refunds due to an error on their part and that my money would be refunded in 7 to 10 days.
January 4 still no refund... Hmmmm am I a statistic now?
Today, January 13 I call the number again and I get this recording that says "Were sorry but refunds will no longer be issued. Please write this e mail address to make sure that your account info has been deleted... Click" What does that mean???
I figured before I make a stink about this I am going to scan the web to see how many others complained about this company and it brought me right to this site as I thought, another person wrote a similar complaint about Showtime Casting.
Quickly... I called the number this other person put on this site for Showtime Casting and a person answered and I explained my story to him and it ended up being a screaming match and I was called a liar a few times and it's not about $99.00 to me. It's the principle as I am sure it is for alot of people.
I am contacting the Attorney General in this matter and a radio station that deals with things like this. I hope my message gets out to alot of people. Thank you for your time.
