My husband and I used to live in Plainview NY and shopped at the Shoprite there; the store was clean and the produce always looked fresh. Their meat department was clean and the meats always looked top notch. My husband and I moved to West Babylon a couple of years ago and have on several occasions went to the Shoprite on Rt. 109; the produce never lasts for more than a few days before turning an the meat department is not clean and often when you go over (especially in the chicken area) it smells like meat that is spoiled.
It is very disheartening as we really feel that Shoprite has some of the best deals and has really great sales; however due to the concerns with the produce and meats, we only go there for last minute items such as chips and soda. We are forced to go to other stores in the area due to this. This past weekend we were having company over for a BBQ last minute and decided to run to Shoprite. We were going to buy some chicken to grill but the smell in the chicken section was horrible. We ended leaving and going to Pathmark.
It is our hope that Shoprite will send someone into inspect/clean up that store so we can shop there weekly and not occasionally!
