Damaged 11 pieces of furniture, refused to repair them to my satisfaction, never returned phone calls

I used this company to move my furniture on 8/27/04. Eleven pieces of furniture on the wood surfaces were damaged with deep scratches or whole pieces broken off. A floor lamp base was broken in half. A full size refrigerator was dented in 2-3" in three places. Two glass tables were scratched. Hardwood floors were scratched in two places. One of the movers asked my son if he had drugs, and if he wanted to get high.

Four phone calls and two letters with photos later were sent before a response was made regarding repairs. Mr. Snitkowsky came and used oil pencils and bottled stain to my dissatisfaction on all furniture. All scratches were totally evident after repair work and new damage was done to my bedroom armoire when he was working with a gritty substance. When I was asked to approve of his work, and would not. He walked out of my house when i was not aware, without saying anything to me.

I called eight more times speaking to Gail each time, the "complaint person", requesting my furniture get fixed by a repairman who could do a better job. I sent another letter sternly requesting in writing either they send a repairman or give compensation according to the contract at $. 30 per pound for each piece of furniture that was damaged.

They sent me a letter on 12/13/04 stating they had completed a thorough investigation of my claim for damage and "found no liability on their part".in "good faith" they sent me a check for $100.00. They say they had the repairs done and have the signed release form completed, which is impossible because I signed nothing. They then say "they sincerely regret my move did not take place without incident and apologize to me for any inconvenience." The letter is signed Gail Hernandez. I did not cash the check.

Gail had told me to investigate other repairmen a month ago, and I did. When I reported back to her that all required a fee of $75 for a written estimate, but the one I liked would apply that to his bill, she said they would only pay for Mr. Snitkowsky's services.
