I am glad that I saw all of the entries on this report and was able to set my mind at ease. My intuition told me there was something funny about this. It was too easy.
Every three months they run the same ad for 6 mos and older. Magazine and TV. My concern was what was their incentive to 'market' my child anymore than the first 'free' assignment for experience and exposure. They denied that they make any money off of the photo session, but when I asked for a payment arrangement, they indicated that we could probably work something out. If you don't make any money off it, how would you have any control over the payment for the photo session? They did tell me that my daughter would not receive any money for the first session, which is the only thing they guarantee in exchange for your 'investment' in the photos. That, of course, was after they told me that each assignment averages $600-1200 each.
Well, what happens to that $600 minimum? I figured that Bruce and Starbiz were making the money on the photos $685 plus the minimum fee for the work $600 up to $1200, for a total profit of $1300-1900 per child. I didn't think of the set up he already had for the print and TV. What a scam!
I am sorry for those of you who paid the money only to find that it was a lie. But I thank you profusely for the expense that you incurred and sharing your tale. You have saved us from incurring an expense that, right now, we probably couldn't afford.
Thank you! It was interesting to note that a former employee of this company states that this business is not affiliated with Wilhemina in New York. They are one of the few licensees listed on Wilhemina NY's website. I was going to call them to check this out further, but now don't have to. I will probably be checking with a local investigative news channel to see if they are interested in this story. I will repost if they are.
