Safeway Carts equipped with sensors that disable wheels - customer service

Store at 5545 Connecticut Ave., Washington, DC. If you try to push your cart onto the parking lot, the wheels freeze up about 10 feet from the entrance. There are no signs or any other notice that warns against doing this.in fact, the store has a cart corral on the lot to return carts after unloading at your car. On 12/28, with a full cart and two children 5 and 7 years old, my cart suddenly froze up in the middle of the driveway. The initial stop, combined with wrestling the cart back to the curb caused me to injure my back. Another customer told me what the problem was and I subsequently observed more than one senior citizen being subjected to the same thing with one cart tipping over. Unbelievable.
