I work in accounts payable at a local school district. While processing our Sprint service phone bills, I noticed a charge $5.25 for an operator-assisted call from Northville, Michigan to one of our main phone lines. It was being billed by Nationwide Connect, Inc. Through OAN Services, Inc.
Knowing we would not have accepted a collect call from anyone in Michigan, I contacted the number they provided for billing inquiries (1-800-713-9078). Chris (ID 133) promptly told me the charge would be credited immediately.
I was suspicious, having been scammed by Liberty On-Line services about 6 months ago for a fictitious web-site they created for us that we never agreed upon (but, that's another story and consumer complaints I haven't filed yet). They billed us for 6 months at $29.95/month before we caught it. I now check all our phone bills thoroughly, as tedious as it is. We have multiple phone lines.
Anyway, back to Nationwide/OAN Services... So I did a search on OAN Services and found a link to consumer complaintss and found at least 18 reports from other innocent victims all over the country.
These scam artists (thieves) are making a fortune.
