These companies appears to be making a nice little sideline profit by adding non-existent, operator-assisted collect calls to your phone bill. Mine was for $4.64 thru Nationwide Connect, Inc., supposedly from a pay phone in White Plains NY to my business phone.
When OAN was contacted, they pawned me off to Nationwide Connect at 888-343-5114 saying they could not help me. Nationwide Connect, when I informed them that this was a fraudulent charge, politely offered to issue a credit within 60 days. I informed them that I would not be paying the charge to Sprint and would inform Sprint that the charge was bogus.
Watch your bills — this is a scam that pops up all the time. As soon as someone answers your phone — answering machine or not — the line goes dead — and you are billed for accepting the collect call.
