Gift card scam

My daughter received a MasterCard gift card for her Bat Mitzvah. She attempted to use it at a store as well as online. The purchases were declined. She tried to register it online with mygiftcreditcard.com and was not able to do it. I called the phone number on the card which gave me another number to call the company. I called the second number put the card information in to find out the card was stolen! I spoke to a representative who confirmed the card was stolen and that she could not help me! I requested to speak with her supervisor. I got the floor supervisor who then told me I need to report the card as lost/stolen even though I actually have the card in my possession. She told me I needed to fax a copy of the card and my information to the company. I immediately went to my printer to fax the information. I attempted to fax the company mygiftcreditcard.com no answer. I tried again no answer. I called the company to confirm I had the correct fax number. I was then told that it is my fax machine and that I need to use a different fax machine! I told her I only have one fax machine in my house and she told me oh well! Needless to say my daughter is out of a gift and her friend who gave her the gift is out of money! I am not concerned that my child does not have the money but it is the fact that this company has been scamming customers and there is nothing you can do!
