The little bit I managed to watch of this show, ' The Biggest Loser ', shocked me. This show is wrong on so many levels.
I have been over weight most of my adult life, and I've heard all the do's and don'ts of weight loss, and exercise.
Never have I ever been told that it's ok to push someone with that much weight on them, and it be good for them.
I feel the trainers are putting these people at a very high risk, for what? Ratings?
I saw what she did to that boy on the treadmill as cruel, and dangerous.
No one should be pushed that far beyond their physical limit.
Walking is the best exercise, or exercising in water, so there is resistance without bearing weight on the already stressed out joints. She could hurt him for ever with the way she was handling him.
It's not just his legs, arms, back that is covered in fat, but his heart too. His heart may be used to packing that weight, and it's pushing over time just to move him at a normal pace, to bring that up to such a dangerous level, is very risky.
Besides, people know their own bodies, to humiliate them into not 'listening' to their bodies is just wrong.
I think something should be done. The trainers need to go through some training of their own. They need to be compassionate, and they need to understand the real limits of an obese person.
I'm appalled that people find this not just inspirational, but entertaining. It made me cry, that we have so little understanding of each other. Don't even tell me about degrees this trainer may have, that means nothing to me, if she doesn't have a brain to process what she's learned about the human spirit.
Take that show off the air, before someone gets hurt from the ignorance that is displayed there.
