Carlos and Nayda Pineiro together approached me to invest in a bar/restaurant with them in West Hollywood around January. Nayda Pineiro signed a note personally guaranteeing monthly payments on my $125000 investment. The plan was for Carlos and Nayda to buy the establishment called "Numbers" at 8741 Santa Monica Blvd. West Hollywood CA 90069 for about $400000. Numbers had been in business for over 30 years and the pair was going to operate the business with myself as a silent partner. After being in business for a year, they would refinance with an SBA loan and pay me back. Carlos and Nayda became totally silent and would not tell me anything after they got the money out of my property (Nayda took out a line of credit on my property to get the money and I was making the mortgage payments. Their payments to me would cover the mortgage payments and also cover my desired return). They did not return calls, emails or text messages for two months and were not to be found in Numbers. When I finally caught them there he insisted everything was a misunderstanding and apologized. He paid me one month of payments and assured me that this would never happen again. His monthly payments were never on time, if he made them at all. I later discovered that he did not actually buy the establishment at all, he merely told the landlord at the property that he was the new owner and would be making the rent payments-He completely lied to me! He also insisted that I was the only investor when I later discovered he had fleeced other investors for over $500000 in total. What did he do with that money if he didn't pay any of it for the purchase of the establishment? I can't imagine. Over a year I received five monthly payments and then only when I would badger Carlos and Nayda incessantly and repeatedly visit Numbers. I found the place was closed for over two months and Carlos continued with the stream of lies telling me that he was letting one of his friends run it. I later found out that he was trying to sell it and run off with the money when he is owing half a million dollars (at least) to other people! The escrow has been going for several weeks and when confronted with his lies, Carlos does not acknowledge them but merely tries to intimidate his accusers with threats of lawsuits, death threats, threats against loved ones, etc. The pair acted fraudulently and deceitfully and should be avoided at all costs. Furthermore Carlos Pineiro makes criminal threats when he is exposed as the liar that he is. If you are unlucky enough to come across these two, I advise running far away and holding onto your wallet. Carlos Pineiro and Nayda Pineiro are rip-off artists to the fullest extent possible.
