Stroud Mall 7 Harassment, unprofessional, health hazards

I've only been working at AMC for half a year now, but I've seen plenty of things that just disgust me. Allow me to explain:

HEALTH HAZARDS: As I've already read about in other reports, it's not recommended that you order from AMC's concession. The hot dogs are often served before they are fully cooked, many employees don't wash their hands, and mice are everywhere. I even caught one myself while working in the concession stand. There is even a mouse corpse rotting between a wall and a counter, and nobody has removed it because it's "too difficult to get back there". All they have to do is pull the shelf out. It may be difficult, but leaving that dead mouse there is just disgusting and is a health hazard.

UNPROFESSIONAL/HARASSMENT: One of my managers gets away with a lot. He's been reported for many things, yet he's still somehow there. This manager is only about 23 years old, and in my opinion, far too immature for his position.in one incident, he fired a coworker because she couldn't put her AMC hat on, but this was because she had cracked her head open the night before and had staples in her head. She still came to work even though she should have stayed home to heal up a bit, but she's a good worker and came in. He actually said he didn't care why she couldn't put a hat on. Come on, she had STAPLES in her head.

This same manager has also harassed me. There was one incident where he was in a bad mood, and proceeded to say rude things to me about my mentally disabled mother. This is a subject he should not have touched, as it's a very personal and sensitive one. Even after telling him that he was crossing the line, he proceeded to tease me about my mentally disabled mother. I even told my other manager about it, but no action was taken. How disappointing.

There was an incident today where I was called at 1 PM and told that I had to come into work. Now, the schedule said I was off, but apparently the managers made a mistake. I live 30-45 minutes away depending on traffic, so I had to get up, shower, and go to work. My fiance was the one to drive me, and we only have one car. Because of this sudden call, my fiance was 45 minutes late to work. So I get to work at 2 PM. Not worth it when I only work until 4:30 PM on Fridays. But, I went so I wouldn't lose my job. The same manager ends up sending me home because, get this, I like the new cash register drawers and he doesn't. Honestly. Wow. This manager is known to bring his personal problems into work, and he takes his issues out on the staff quite frequently. So I get sent home around 3:30 PM. My fiance and I are already too poor to afford food, so we wasted gas and made my fiance late for a measly 1.5 hours of work.

Not only does this manager bring his personal problems to with him to work, but he has very bad habits: he doesn't clean the theaters well at all. He just sweeps up the aisles really fast without getting under the seats or mopping. He comes into work with hangovers, and once or twice, drunk. I even walked upstairs once to find him chewing tobacco in the office. He even takes naps during his shift. I often hear him whining about how hard he works, when my supervisor is the one doing all the work for my manager. This person is very unprofessional, and I have no idea why he still has his job.

I joined this company because I'm a disabled US Army veteran, and I wanted to find a job I could stick with for a while. I wanted a job that would respect its employees as well as it respected its guests. I'm starting to realize that AMC, at least this certain theater, is not a place I'd recommend others to work. I'm going to be contacting Operations about this, though I have no doubts that the situation will remain unchanged. So far, everybody who has called Operations has been fired. I'm willing to bet that once I make my report, I too will lose my job. Still, I believe in doing what is right - legally and morally - and I will risk my job if it means I can help other in similar situations.
