This letter is to complain about the way Ticketmaster is operating their buisness.
For those that do n ot know who or what Ticketmaster is... Here is the skinny &
Ticketmaster is contracted by venues to sell consumers tickets for entertainment and some sporting events. There are defined rules and regualtions and terms and conditions (that they agree and are supposed to be governed by) regarding how, when, where, and quantity of tickets can be purchased depending on the event and Ticketmaster is contracted by the venues to maintain integrity and maintain ticketsales as per the rules and regulations. Unfortunately, Ticketmaster does not comply with these rules and regulations and I am prepared to do what I need to do to make sure I do not fall a victim of their misrepresentations and deceitful practices in the future.
Recently, I attempted to purchase four Hannah Montana (a Disney production) tickets for Atlanta and the show is set for November 28 - There was a pre-sale set by the Miley World fanclub which was suppose to allow the members purchase tickets early beginning 9/12/07 (I believe) and the general public was not permitted to purchase tickets until 9/15/07.
I went to a Ticketmaster retailer (Publix) in Lawrenceville, GA way in advance of the 10am time set by Ticketmaster to purchase these tickets. Upon my arrival there were numerous other people in line waiting to purchase their tickets for their daughters. I must remind you that this is a Disney production and we are not talking about the Beatles here. Its Hannah Montana and it is a show geared for CHILDREN! Mainly girls - ages 8 to 14. The retailer had a lottery for your position to purchase tickets regardless of what time you arrived. OK, Fine. I was lucky and had number 2 and the lottery started with one so I was real lucky... I was second in line and I was so excited to be able to get these tickets for my 10 year old daughter and her friends. Well, needless to say, the first gentlemen who had number one went to the cashier at 10:00 am and purchased TWO tickets. I was next in line and the anticipation was killing me... She asked me my preference and number of tickets... I wanted best available in the $66 range (the highest range tickets) and she said there are none available... Now remind you, it is only 10:02 am & a mere two minutes since the darn tickets went on sale. I said "you are kidding me?" I asked her to find me anything, anything at all... To no avail, the tickets were already sold out at 10:02am!!! UNBELIEVEABLE. I could not understand why and how a Disney show could sell out in two minutes. I was shocked and angry! Anger really then set in when I went to my car and hooked up my laptop to see that bookies all over already had these tickets on various websites and had the prices jacked up to over $200 a ticket - and most tickets were going for up for $1600 a ticket... I began to ask myself "how in the heck could that be? - the show just went on sale"
Well, I am sure it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that Ticketmaster obviously has a contract (on the side) with these bookies who had these tickets in their hands and were re-selling them no more than 10 minutes after the tickets went on sale in the first place. I am not stupid and I will do everything in my power to boycott Ticketmaster and their deceitful practices and misleading advertisements.
I hope they feel real good that there are 1000's of little girls who don't get the opportunity to see their TV Idol because of greedy and theiving people and companies.
I have a saying that I love to repeat & we all know about Karma right? — Well - Karma don't mess around!
Ticketmaster's dirty little secret will eventually come out and I hope that I am one of the reasons it does.
I will get tickets to TREAT my daughter to a show where her idol is. I will not pay a lot of money and I will be honest when I get the tickets. I can promise you that!
