On our vacation to Florida, we were very excited about our first parasailing adventure.
We were on a budget, so planned around our coupon. The one we had stated a value of $90; this was for "buy one get one free on the deluxe package."
We called the company ahead of time to get information and to later, make reservations. They told us over the phone that their packages were as follows:
1. $50 - 600 ft.
2. $60 - 900 ft. And one dip
3. $70 - 1200 ft. And two dips (each ride being 12-15 mins long)
This gave me the impression that the highest priced package WAS the deluxe.
Our first impressions of the employees on board the boat were diminished when the two MEN failed to help the six ladies that were struggling to climb up to the deck. They went on to then embarass us when they publicaly asked each of us our weight.
We planned on getting the deluxe packages so that we could have two dips in the water. When our NINE MINUTE ride was over, we realized we had only been dipped once. When we inquired about this, they humiliated us by saying it was our own fault.
"We couldn't lower you guys because one of your legs were lifted in the air. Plus we didn't want to get your camera wet." The family that went before us also had a camera which the captain was aware of. They were dipped two times, up to their knees.
I told them this was our first time and did not know the rules, that they should have briefed us. He then told us, "This is not complicated stuff, it's common sense. The whole purpose of being dipped is to get your legs wet." (Practically saying we were stupid.)
After the ride was over, it came time to pay. They charged us $100 for "the deluxe package". I told them that when I called, they told me $70. His response, " Well, when people use coupons, the price goes up to $100. Plus over the phone, they didn't know which coupon you had." This was all before HE had ever even seen my coupon.
Well, now we know for next time we go parasailing...
