Rochester Linoleum & Carpet
They damaged my walls, baseboards, alarm system, etc

Apparently the Rochester Linoleum & Carpet (at least the one in Webster) hires independent contractors to install the carpets and floors they sell by somehow consigning these jobs to them.

The vinyl flooring was scheduled to arrive and be installed first. This was so the installers would not be tracking all over new carpet. The vinyl however, did not show up when it was supposed to, so the carpet and laminate went in first. No problems with the laminate, however the guy that came to install the carpet did a horrible job! Carpet was not tacked down in certain areas (didnt even install tacking strips). The installer not only scratched up our baseboards and moulding, but caused damage (gouges) in several areas of the baseboards and moulding and also scratched up the paint on various parts of the wall. The gouges had to be filled with wood putty and then reprimed and repainted. There was damage to walls that extended up to 5 feet from the floor in certain areas, well out of expected range of carpet installation - obviously carelessness. While installing carpet the guy kicked up a piece of brand new laminate that had been installed the day before. His solution: drive a nail into it to nail it down and don't mention it to the home owners... I had to repaint the baseboards and several walls after the carpet went in, as well as repair several gouges.
Finally the vinyl flooring arrived. The vinyl was installed in a small foyer just inside my side door and on the steps leading down into the basement. The installers somehow ripped the wires from the house's alarm system out from the wall and left about 2 feet of wire dangling from the floor... Now my side door is off line according to the alarm panel. They left that without notifying the home owner. Additionally, the vinyl installers did not bring the floors flush to the walls and edges, in some cases as much as a 1/4 inch of seperation leaving the subfloor exposed.in some cases the installers used some type of sticky brown caulk to hide the gap between the edge of the flooring and the wall/or step. The caulk is visible and sticky and looks horendous! The floors began to bubble up the next day. They did so much damage to the paint on the walls that the walls from floor to about 3 feet up need to be totally repainted. Not just scratches either... Divits and gouges that will need to be filled. The gouges were most like from their tool belts and other items hitting the walls. They reported none of this damage to my wife, who was home at the time. When they were finished, two guys hopped into their car and the third guy yelled to my wife that they were finished. My wife began to examine their work and brought up some of the damage that she began to find. He left quickly and would not address any of her concerns other than to say that the walls would have to be touched up. They left all the garbage and debris on my driveway, completely blocking my garage door. They never cleaned or vacuumed and left a mess at the bottom of of the stairs for my wife to sweep up and carry out.
I spoke to the service manager the afternoon that they left. He was less than hospitable and lacked the customer service-like tone I needed to hear, leaving me worried that I was out of luck. They are sending someone out in a few days to assess all of the damage to my house. Whether they make good, whether they make partially good, or whether this will end up being the worst home inmprovement experience of my life remains to be seen, however I can say now for certain, that my house rennovations should be completed, all of my furniture should be moved back, and I should be sitting in a newly rennovated home, looking at it and smiling as I sip a hot cup of coffee and feeling proud, however I am doing just the opposite. These guys are horrible and if you choose to ignore this review and hire them anyway, just remember I told you so...
