These people need lessons in the FDCPA and FTC Acts. The repeated calls, lack of empathy and menacing collection practices clearly violate many sections of the Acts'. I suggest calling Green Tree's sole owner Walter Investment Management Corp. At 813-421-7600 and demand to speak with a member of THEIR staff. Do not waste your time leaving a message for Jeff Moore, he works for Green Tree as the VP of Customer Service. If we all flood the staff at Walter, perhaps they will take our complaints seriously. I, too, am facing financial trouble for the 1st time. I am now permanently disabled with Progressive MS. This condition will last until my death, not the 12 months as GT expects.in I was told I could modify my payment for 12 months as a trial period to establish a sound payment history and demonstrate the ability to pay the reduced amount. I made each payment without fail. Per the agreement, if the payments were made timely during the 12 month trial, my loan would be permanently modified to the reduced amount. That didn't happen. I still send in my monthly reduced payment, but I was told that I never should have assumed the permanent reduction would happen, despite being told that it would. Now my account is delinquent and they are threatening to foreclose. My loan modification paperwork they requested has been lost or ignored. I have spent $77 getting copies and mailing it to them. Finally I mailed it certified, return receipt requested and guaranteed next day delivery. I was able to track the delivery and confront GT with the name and time of the delivery. Boy were they red in the face after that. And now my account sits, they call daily, I talk to them daily, explain to each new collector about the modification and arrangements. It makes no difference. And so I wait. And wait. And wait some more. The calls are threatening and disturbing, so I started recording them AND keeping a log of the dates, times, and names of the collectors involved. I have filed a complaint with the State of Michigan Attorney Generals office regarding creditor harrassment and false information. Let's see where this takes us! Remember, call Walter Investment Management Group, keep records or calls and record them. Be sure to let them know you are doing so. Good luck and remember, strength in numbers.
