I recently lost my job and in Nevada that's the kiss of death. I have put my house on the market through an agent who has been working with Green Tree. As most of the other reviewers have confirmed, they call multiple times a week, but last night's call was possibly criminal.
It started with a call from a number from the 909 area code. The person on the phone claimed that he worked with Green Tree and I told him that I had spoken with two people the day before. He turned me over to someone who said that I had been speaking with "Duke" and that he was Duke's supervisor.
I gave him the name of the LLC person who was processing the short sale and he told me that the person I named was two cubicles away, but he didn't offer to put him on the phone.instead he told me that if I would answer a few questions, he had a computer program that would determine if I could qualify for a short sale.
I told him that I was unwilling to give financial information over the phone so then he attempted to describe my signature to me in order to put me at ease. I was still unsatisfied so he said that what I was doing was refusing to cooperate and that was typical. So I hung up.
The caller's area code and prefix were from Upland, CA. He claimed that Green Tree changes its phone numbers regularly to catch people who won't answer calls from the previous phone numbers they've used. I'm going to check this out with the police.
