I have rented from Lynda and Steve Vais (Oakhurst Rentals in Irwin, PA) for a little over 5 years. [Their full names are public information found on the internet]. It has been a terrible experience. Steve never finishes a project. I am still waiting for my bathroom to be repainted after they came and re-plastered after the bathroom ceiling had a leak. It is upsetting because I spent my own hard earned money on painting that bathroom myself and then they came and totally destroyed it with no regards to it being my home and not just another “rental". My refrigerator broke and it took them numerous days to call me back and even more days to come and replace it. [ I have cell phone call logs to prove this] When they finally did come and replace it…they brought me the same 1974 [approx. Year] brand refrigerator that they were there to replace and not only that…it was DIRTY! Of course Lynda had an attitude when I asked her to clean it. My toilet has broken twice along with the basement sewer backed up into my laundry room! All three times…I went days without being able to use the toilet. The 1st time, Lynda told me that, “ I ruined her birthday dinner because she had to come over and have Steve fix it.” Well, excuse me for YOU being so cheap and not hiring an on-call maintenance man …you have enough properties to make that type of monthly investment. The 2nd time she came over she told me that, “I should have just asked the neighbor to use their toilet!?! ” The problem is that The Vais’ talk to you as if you are beneath them…just because you choose to live in a rental and not a $200K house on Janet Dr. [public information from county property reassessments]... Like them! I could go on and on…believe me…it has been a long 5 years! Please allow me to save you the trouble and frustration…. Don’t rent from this couple.in short, they don’t do general property upkeep, they will fight you about major needed repairs, they will completely ignore you, they will try anything to keep your security deposit, and they treat like you are a terrible person! If they treated me like this after I was someone that keep the apartment looking nice and paid my rent 2 weeks in advance…. I am scared to know how they treat others…. Thank the Higher Power above that I am finally MOVING!
