Green Tree acquired my mortgage via GMAC bankruptcy. Of course had we known then exactly what type of company Green Tree was and the rude and disrespectful customer service employees they hire, we would have refinanced through another company - any other company BUT Green Tree. Customers coming from GMAC are wonderful people who had no control whatsoever of their bankruptcy. There's NO reason to treat us as mere embecils/idiots. We refuse to pay $12 to simply make a payment on our loan. GMAC offered a 15 day grace period with NO late fees, yet your rude customer service personnel SCREAMED that unless our payment reached them by the 1st, I could expect continued harrassing phone calls and a substantial late fee. My first month, I was charged a $20.83 late fee although the automated phone message at GT states no late fees would be assessed due to the transition period. LIARS! The multitude of disgruntled new customers now forced to do temporary business with Green Tree may not be able to shut them down, but we can cause them financial harm and can do that by first refiancing our loans elsewhere, filing complaints with the BBB, contacting the Attorney Generals office, their local government offices, and creating petitions with The White House.
