This library seems to be run exactly like a corporation... If only it was an honest one. Their fines are outrageous, and they turn you over to collections if unpaid... So in truth they are attempting to turn a profit.
I am being dunned for a DVD which was returned in a "Friends of the Library" box in my area, and they are asking over $40 in fines and have turned me over to collections. Several years ago they lost a book i returned and still claim I did not return it. So... They will not believe me.
They also dunned my husband for one tape in a books on tape collection which he returned. He left out one tape from the set so he placed the odd tape in an envelope and placed it in the box (I observed him doing this) and they dunned him money. This is the worst library I have ever used... They are
arrogant to customers, dishonest.
