Finish Line and Sports Illustrated
Consumer Report

My daughter purchased some shoes and swiped her rewards card. I then swiped my debit card to pay for them. The employee said he would sign her up for a free trial subscription to sports illustrated and that at the end of that period she would have the option to renew for a lower price if she desired. This was in August. We never heard anything from them and not only received SI but also SI for kids monthly (we have no kids in our home). We thought nothing about it, since we were never told how long the free trial was. Then on Black Friday, I checked my checking account and there were two charges from TWX Sports. One for 49.99 and one for 24.99.in investigating these charges they were found to be for both magazines. Since I hadn't anticipated this charge it overdrew my account for 2 $36.00 fees. I was able to find a webpage to cancel SI but not SI for Kids. SI claims it will take them 10-12 weeks to return my money to my account. How can it be legal to send her the magazine, charge it to my debit card and not have authorization from either of us? I am a single mom of three teens living on a fixed income. I feel ripped off! I can not get my bank to reverse the overdraft charges. Even if the money is refunded I am still out $72.
