Payroll deposit held in pending status

I recently opened a checking and savings account with this bank after relocating to a new area. My payroll check did not go direct deposit yet and I was given a paper check. The bank was closed by the time I was able to get there to deposit my check and had to deposit it throught the ATM, After my check was beyond retrieval and I recieved the reciept and it said my deposit was being held until 11/26/12!!! I already had things I had to do with my paycheck and now withou warning I have no access to my money for 10 days. Mind you it is a holiday week and needed that money to be able to pay some bills, fuel my cars, and get groceries and Thanksgiving dinner for my family of 6. If I had known before my check was beyond retrieval I could have cashed it at a local grocery store and deposited cash. Now I cannot provide any Thanksgiving meal for my family and had to buy minimal food with the 200,00 I was given access to because I have to make it for 10 days with food and gas before getting my full paycheck right before another payday. This is not fair to me, it was a payroll check not a personal check. I contacted online support and all I kept getting told was in accordance to this law... Blah blah... We hold checks on accts under 30 days old. I am sorry I relocated, I am sorry my direct deposit didnt kick in in time for this payperiod... inow am going to get lt charges on some bills and we cannot enjoy Thanksgiving with the rest of the US because my payroll is being held hostage by this bank. I have since opened an account with a different bank and once I have access to my paycheck I will be closing this acount. Nice way to punish new customers, no warning, HAHA we have your paycheck, which we already live paycheck to paycheck and I can't even access it, I now will have 65.00 in late charges on my vills and had to explain to the kids we can't do Thanksgiving this year because we needed to make sure we had enough food to last 10 days before we could buy more food. This is not fair to me as a customer. Online chat also sent a request for someone to investigate this and give me a return call, they asked when is a good time to return the call, they have called the last 2 days at a time they were told I would be at work and I have no cell service in my office building.
