I called Direct TV because Comcast kept raising my rates and cutting available programming. I received a mail offer from Direct TV for a two-year half-price deal with two free upgrades to HD and/or DVR. I was told that I would be charged $29.99 for my monthly servicefor the first year and $49.99 per month after one year. I agreed to the terms with only the HD upgrade and processed the rebate on line. The installers arrived and hooked me up in a relatively quick and efficient manner. Then we turned on the set and everything was in low def. I informed the insatallers that I was supposed to have HD. They informed me that the order they had was not for HD and that I would need to contact the servcie provider to get it straightened out. After some difficulty, I reached the service provider's representative. I was informed that I would need to pay $10 per set for the HD upgrade. After being passed from representative to representative for what seemed like all day, I agreed to the charges. They sent out a service rep the following week to make the exchange. I ended up paying $41.35 for the first year, and now I am paying $77.35 for the last year of my contract and they keep adding more channels that I don't get and eliminating channels that I do get. These people are dishonest, belligerent and don't care at all what kind of service they provide. To top things off, everytime it rains, I lose service for several minutes to several hours. Dishonest people and garbage service.
