Towneplace suites farmingdale
In complete disbelief of the lies and extra charges

On October 28thi checked in with my husband and our 6 month old baby in the towneplace suites due to hurricane Sandy that was hitting our area. We live 10 minutes away from the hotel and decided to stay in a hotel since we were afraid of the power outages and since we have a 6 month old baby we thought it would be better. I had first made reservations at the Marriott Melville but when I called to confirm the reservation, I asked them if they had generators in case of power outages and they said that they only generators for the hallways and exit signs, so I cancelled my reservation with them. I called a couple of other hotels and then finally fell on towneplace suites in farmingdale and Irene proceeded by telling me that they had generators for the rooms and that they were fully prepared for the storm. So of course, I made my reservation there. My original reservation was from Sunday October 28th until Tuesday October 30th. Irene told me she would book me until Wednesday just in case Tuesday would be really bad, but that if I wanted to check out before I could, just as long as its before noon on Tuesday. On Monday, the storm started and by 5:00 pm, the power went out at the hotel with no back up generators. Needless to say they completely lied. When we went to the lobby to find out what was going on, they said they had no generators for the rooms and that they only had a generator for the hallways. There were several people crying, a man on a respirator, a mother alone with her baby, another lady on a machine and many many other people that were told the same thing I was told. The only thing they could tell us was "sorry"! They told us to go across the street in the storm, winds at 75mph with a 6 month old baby at the Marriott courtyard because towneplace suites would only have power in the hallways for half an hour and after that it would be pitch black. We were stuck in the lobby in the hotel across the street until about 1:00 am because we didn't want to cross over again with winds that were now at 100mph with our baby. Needless to say, we checked out first thing Tuesday morning at 8:00 am. When I checked out I spoke to Rebecca that told me I would be comped for my stay, that she is very sorry and she also noted I checked out 1 day early. Next thing you know, not only was I not comped for my stay but I was charged for the night I want even there and extra charges, I called them several times, spoke with a manager called Josh and nothing happened. They lied to me, to sick people and they are getting away with it. I have a 6 month child, and ventured myself in a pitch black hotel, where you couldn't even see your hand in front of you. Not given light, nothing! I ran into a wall with my baby and I honestly was scared someone would be in the hallway waiting to rob me or do something to me. Now, they charged me 200$ for a night I wasn't even there because they had no electricity to check me out. I don't know what to do, but I'm sure we can start a class action lawsuit against the Marriott. I guarantee you, I am not the only one that was treated in such a way. I live 10 minutes away from the hotel, I would have never went there knowing they had no generators, not even for the hallways!
