Consumer Report

I received a call from 515-5555 on Monday 10/15 telling me that I was authoriozed by the US Government to receive $7,000. I was authorized to receive this because I had paid my taxes and all of my bills on time and had no criminal record. She instructed me to call Amy Winters at (206) 792-9451 to receive further instructions on how to get the money. I was given a code to tell specifically to Amy to receive my tax free money. I called Amy Winters and discussed this with her. I refused to give any personal information out over the phone and she stated that she didn't need it because she already had all of my information. She stated my name; address and all she asked for in clarification was my date of birth. I asked multiple times if this was really tax free and from the Government; to which she replied yes and reiterated their position. She stated that it would cost $240 (refundable) to have the money transfered for me. She gave me a number for Greg Wilson (206) 792-9630 and instructed me to call him when I reached the Western Union and to give him the passcode I had received for my claim. Upon reaching the Western Union I called Greg; he informed me that I needed to stay on the line with him throughout filling out the form and submitting the request. He instructed me to send the money to Nepal stating "The US Government uses some countries that are tax free to go through in order to save you from having to pay tax on it.By the end of the day you will have $7,240 in your account; because you will also get back this money you are sending" I gave him my routing and account numbers and hung up the phone. This was completed on Monday 10/15 at 2:26pm. He stated that the money transfer would take a couple hours to complete. A couple hours later, I checked my account and saw that no money had tranfered. I called Greg Wilson back and he stated that I was "31/37 and that it would be processed tomorrow". I was to call him back on Tuesday after 11:30 am to make sure that it had transfered. On Tuesday 10/16 I called him back and he stated "You have to pay $435 in tax to the state in order to receive your money. The state of MN has a hold on your money until you pay the tax." He instructed me to go down to the Western Union again and pay $435 (with a $15 TRANSACTION FEE). He again instructed me on where to send the money and stayed on the line while it was completed. It was completed on 10/16 at 5:44pm. I was to call him back in 2 hours if the money had not gone into my account. Called with no answer on tuesday night. On Wednesday 10/17 I called again. Greg stated he needed to check my account and upon doing so stated I had filled out the paperwork incorrectly so it was not processing.in order for it to go through I needed to place my full name on the sheet because the IRS had rejected it currently without my full name. He again stated that I needed to resend $435, but that he would add back the first $435 I had sent to my payment. He stayed on the line with me as I sent the second payment of $435. He confirmed that everything had gone through on his end and stated that it would take 5-6 hours to see it in our account. On thursday 10/18 I called him because the money was still not in the account; was not able to get ahold of him on thursday. I left multiple messages. On Friday 10/19 I was able to get ahold of him and he said "it has been 2 days. It is not in your account yet? Let me call the IRS and talk with them. They will call you, make sure you answer your phone." 1/2 hour later my phone rings and it is John Cooper from the IRS. He lists off my social security number, address and birth date to confirm my identity, he never asked for any information from me, he already knew it all. He states the reason I have not received the money is that there is a default on my account and I needed to pay at least half of it before I could receive my money. It was a default of $1,871 from 2008. Which was reasonable because I have a loan from that time with it's principle about that. He stated that if I paid $935 the default would be cleared and the money would be transfered in. I again went to the Western Union and sent $935 to India according to John Cooper's instructions. Mr. Cooper stated that each department used a different address when questioned about sending it to India rather than Nepal. After the money was sent, he stated that the default was cleared and the money should be in the account before the weekend. Later that evening I had tried to call and could not get ahold of him. He called me back at 7:32 pm and left me a message on my phone saying "Sorry I couldn't make it to the phone when you called, I had higher up people for the IRS trying to work out some problems that we are having. You have nothing to worry about, everything is cleared and will transferred to your account by midnight or by morning whenever the bank accepts it". This morning, still no money in my account and I found other scams like this online.
