I was cold-called by a Mr Sean Hunter about a development in Brazil called Vista Da Marina. I had some funds to invest, but decided to experiment with one plot.
A few weeks later he called again. He then handed me over to a 'Financial Guru' and there was another hard-sell to swap my investment and add a further £80,000 to ensure a quick return. I was then told as an aside that this was nothing to do with LAG - even though it was their employees who called me.
I was told to write down a series of meaningless numbers by this man, to do with the notional profit one could make in this new transaction and could only get away by putting the phone down.
The investment fruition period was 'a maximum of 18 months', according to Mr Hunter. This has long since gone and any attempt to make contact, either by email, on-line or phone has proved fruitless.
I have since discovered that all calls go through a call centre, so there may well be no real company office.
I managed to talk to a Mr James Sutton, who has apparently taken over my 'portfolio' and asked him for confirmation of all that he said by email. I have received none, so everything they said is simply hearsay.
He finally observed that, if I needed a friend, 'get a dog'. To which I replied that it was not friendship I required but confirmation that my 'land asset' was exactly that.
Both Mt Hunter and Mr Sutton repeatedly assured me of their integrity and honesty - even though I had not questioned either.
I have not been able to talk to anyone since.
