The David Hunter Law Firm
In Fort Bend County Is An Expensive Scam Not communicate honestly with clients, woos them with tall tales of "connections, " EXPENSIVE$

Sugar Land attorney David Hunter was hired to represent a trucker friend of mine, who had just gotten his first DWI. My friend (who is not that great with English, so he asked me to write this for him) searched around for a lawyer that would be able to finish up his DWI case in a way that allowed him to keep his job.

My friend got David Hunter's name from a Richmond bondsman. I don't know, but I have heard that this type of referral from bondsman to attorneys is against the law. Who knows?

Anyway, he came highly recommended by this bail bondsmen's secretary and when my friend met him, David Hunter spent the first thirty minutes tooting his own horn, as we truck drivers like to say. All he wanted to tell my buddy was how connected he was and how he used to be a judge, and how he could just snap his fingers with the DA and get this case dismissed, and blah, blah, blah.

Then, when it got time to talk about fees, Mr. Hunter told my client it would be some outrageous amount for everything but trial and an additional even more outrageous amount if it had to go to trial. My buddy told me later that when you looked at the time David Hunter actaully spent on his case, it probably came out to about $700/hr. For him. (I should have gone to law school!).

He told my buddy that because of his connections and him being a former judge (for only a very short time, so i hear) and all, that he could basically just snap his fingers at the DA, and the DWI would get the case dropped to a reckless driving or something that would have allowed my buddy to keep his commercial driver's license, which was the whole point all along.

Well, my buddy bought it, and paid for it, and almost two years and countless court appearances later (many of which David Hunter was too busy to show up for), after losing his commercial license at the ALR hearing (a hearing that Hunter basically promised to win), he was strong-armed by Hunter into pleading guilty to DWI, even though the cops had almost no evidence against him (no video, no breath test).

Now, my buddy has lost his job, has to meet with his probation officer all the time, has all sorts of classes and community service that he has to find rides to, and has lost his commercial driver's license, all because of a lawyer who rooked him in with promises of easy wins and using political connections to get things done and then did not deliver even though he got a TON of CASH for his "work" on this case.

Maybe David Hunter is a good lawyer, and just screwed this one up. But from what my buddy told me, when he went to court, it was just a cattle call with him and David Hunter's other clients. He got to talking to a few of the other customers of Mr. Hunter and many of them felt they were being treated the same way. Shaken down for everything they had to pay the note on that brand new sports car Hunter drives around in. Anyway, take it for what it's worth. You might want to look around before giving your money to David Hunter.
