I received a message on my home answering machine stating the following: "Hi this message is for Jennifer (my last name). My name is special investigator Riley Smith. This is a very urgent and important message. I’m contacting you in regards to a complaint that has been filed against you. First of all it’s a claim and affidavit number R67T1767 where you have been named a respondents in a court action and must appear. There is a contact number on file for which you must call. That number is 704-464-0168. Please forward this information to your attorney in that the order to show cause contains a restraining order. You or your attorney will have 24-48 hours to respond to oppose this matter."
I'm a legal professional. I know there is no legal merit to this phone message. If a case were pending, I would be served with papers either in person or by mail. This is a scam! Please beware folks!
I filed a complaint with the BBB and the FTC.
