One Stop Auto Parts, Inc
The Unthinkable!

I took my car to One Stop Auto Parts, Inc. On Greenmount Avenue, on September 17 for strut repair. Transaction started out as an answer to prayer and quickly turned into my worst nightmare! Because of credit problems and that fact that we used them before with no problem, we viewed them as our solution. They evaluated the situation with a test-drive and found that stuts were definetly the problem. About two hours later, they called me and said they needed 2 Stabalizer links and 2 front loaded struts. The total came to 872.36. He emailed me the invoice that I checked off to consent to the work. They called me a few hours later and said my car was ready and I could pick it up by 6:00 pm. About 3:00 pm., they called me to say my car was ready and I could come and get it! So I'm excited because not only did they complete it the same day, but it as ready by 3:00 pm.! I get down there about 5:25, with my paperwork for financing only to be met by opposition. I was told the conditions for financing were 2 co-signers that made 13.00 an hour or more. I brought my SSA award letter and my husband's most recent paystubs. I showed them these items and they informed me they couldn't except my SSA as a pay method. I called my husband and told him he needed to be there to sign the papers in person, he was there in 15 minutes. Meanwhile, I was hoping silently that what they were saying about my pay method was not true. When husband arrived, the finance offficer informed us that we needed the title to the car. Not only that, but he said because they didn't accept SSA, we now needed a third co-signer that made 13.00 dollars or more an hour. Unbelievable! I was totally disappointed. The next day (Tuesday 9/18), my husband got the title from MVA, which costs 20.00. We tried hard to secure a third co-signer on a moments notice. We didn't find one until Wednesday 9/19. I was scheduled to pick up the car on Wednesday, but the third co-signer was having trouble printing out her check stubs and also my son was in the middle of root-canal surgery. The owner, Jerry called me to ask if I was coming to get the car that day and I told him I hoped so. He said that I should try hard because after Wednesday, I would have to start paying storage fees! I get back on the phone to try to secure the third co-signers had her paper work. She did, since my son was still in dental surgery at 4:30 pm, I didn't know if I would be able to pick her up from work and get her to One Stop by 6:00 pm.By 5:45 pm, I called owner to say I wouldn't make it by 6:00 pm and could I please have until the next morning (Thursday 9/20). He said it was fine and he would see me the next day. I showed up by 8:20 on Thursday 9/20 with the third co-signer. As soon as she signed the contract, the owner Jerry came out and told me he had horrible news that my car was towed!!! They parked my car on the street! Then he showed me on the conrtact where they reserve the right to park it on the street?! Two minutes later, he was leaving for a meeting! I can't tell anyone how displaced, hurt and humiliated I felt and still feel! In order to make sure to collect all the money for work done, they put a device under the hood to shut the car off for non-payment as well as put a lien on my title! And all of this is before we even had a chance to even prove a good record to pay him for honest work done. There ought to be a law against this type of gouging (to exhort from, swindle, or overcharge).
