I would like to share a bad experience with the world that many people may take for granted. This experience took place at Woodfield Apartments located at 4641-A Patrician Blvd in Wilmington DE, 19808. This experience has to do with "privacy." Privacy can be defined in many ways, such as secrecy or suclusion.
On Aug 31 a male maintenance worker named Audrey entered my apartment to fix my bathroom sink. My brother a light sleeper was visiting me and was sleeping in my room and I was in my children's room. My brother states that the worker walked right into my apartment and into my room without knocking only to discover my brother sleeping on the floor.
My brother had the covers over his face, but felt a presence in the room. That presence was the maintenance worker standing over him. My brother immediately jumped up from under the covers with just his boxers on and topless. My brother was very angry and hysterical. At first my brother thought it was me, but I knock when I enter any establishment. I was in the other room and all I heard was yelling. "What the hell are you doing in here if you're suppose to be fixing the bathroom.?" "What is the maintenance guy doing in your room?" Meanwhile, the maintenance guy is standing there startled and frightened as he should be.
The maintenance worker wasn't expecting a male to be in the household. The maintenance worker finally left and I received a call from the Ms. Debra LaMonaca and she's the manager of the complex. She said "Who do you have living with you? And I said, I don't have anyone living here, but my brother is visiting" and she said "the maintenance worker said that your brother threatened him" and I said, "no"."Did the worker tell you what he did?" After I explained and she said "the worker said he was in the hallway and your brother threatened him."
I'm saying to myself "does she know how stupid she sounds?" My brother knew that the maintenance guy was suppose to fix the bathroom and why would he threatened the worker? The worker finally got caught doing something he had know business doing. My conversation with the manager really didn't get anywhere because I think she felt like an idiot because he lied. When I told her he was in my room she said "He may have needed acsess to the big room, " so I said, he wasn't in the big room he was in the small room which is my personal bedroom and all of a sudden her attitude changed and she got ignorant.
On Sept 2 I received a call from the manager's supervisor of my complex after I visited the main office the same day the event took place. Mrs. Jarome the supervisor didn't even have the story. She gave me the impression that she didn't even contact them to find out what happened. She stated to me that she didn't knoow I was in the apartment when this took place. She told me that she believed the maintenance worker because he was employed with them for ten years.
I guess they don't watch the news. Remember the stories about the landlord (s) going in a tenants refrigerator and urinating in the food or the landlord (s) setting up a survelliance in an apartment and watching the tenant in the shower and bedroom. On Septmeber 23 I took my daughter outside to ride in her Barbie Jeep and I see the maitenance guys outside drinking alcholic beverages in front of the rental office. I'm thinking to myself "Where's the manager?" It doesn't stop there, she came out an hour later and was sitting right there, while they were drinking, but she wasn't drinking I can safely say.in the state of Delaware the laws don't protect the tenants when it comes to renting an apartment.in situations like this and the other report on Mid-Atlantic Realty you would need to seek legal advice.
I felt the need to share this story because I had and still have crazy thoughts running in my mind about what his intentions where. Right now I have my brother, father and estranged husband traveling back and forth to check on me until I move. The next time I'm on this site I'll most likely be updating my story.
Mid-Atlantic Realty is a horrible management company and this particular complex is horrible. I was suppose to stay here for only six months, but I got lazy and now I'm paying for it. I thought I could put up with it for six months, but not six more months. There's never any parking, some of the people here are sloppy, people who don't live here come here to hang out, a number of times people knocked on my door looking for other people, I strongly believe there's drug activity here.
I don't let my children hangout outside, I bring my daughter outside to play once in a blue moon, but we go out anyway. I can safely say there hasn't been any gun activity here. When I moved in I was told by the manager that they don't allow people to hang out and disturb our tenants. I can see why she sales you a lie because who wants to rent an apartment out of this complex. "nobody."
