I have been a tenant at Parke Laurel Apts. For approximately 3 years. During that time the complex changed management and my problems began. For the past 6 months I have had more problems with the rude and unprofessional staff here then I have ever encountered before.in September of water started collecting under the lining of my bath tub. Standing in the tub felt like I was standing on a water bed. Getting this problem fixed was a major hassle. For 4 months I had to deal with stagnant water collecting under the lining. Maintenance would come to the apartment after several calls to drain the water, which never solved the problem. During this time I told Maintenance that the draining of the tub only lasted until the next time the shower was used. Every time the water in the tub was turned on the problem started. They were never able to tell me when the tub could actually be fixed. After several times of this, I finally received a call letting me know that there has been a scheduled date for a contractor to come out and repair the tub. The only bad part about this is that due to the chemicals being used, I was forced to stay out of my apartment for an entire weekend, which resulted in me having to stay in a hotel. Mind you all along my rent was being paid. Upon returning NOTHING was done.in other words I spent money out of my pocket to stay in a hotel along with paying rent and nothing was done. I called and Krishna Singh could not tell me why this was. Someone was to call me to rescheduled the date. After several weeks of not receiving a call, I called and Rosario (Executive Manager) told me that there has not been a rescheduled date yet. After getting this response twice, I went and sat in their office until they could give me a date and time. The rescheduled date was Friday January 9 (4 months since the problem initially started). The contractor was supposed to be at my apartment by 9am that morning and no one showed up until 5pm that evening. Once again I had to find a place to stay. When I got home the tub was still not completely finished. I had to now wait another 8 hours for the caulking to dry before the shower could be used.By Monday January 12 my tub was FINALLY fixed. Now that this was over, whatever they did to the tub caused water to leak into the apartment under me. Maintenance was called to come and fix the problem. Thinking that that problem was fixed, I woke up to maintenance in my apartment a few days later, telling me otherwise. Maintenance entered my apartment unannounced and proceeded to enter my room to gain access to the water pipes. I told him to hold on and I will come out of the room so that he can do what he needs to do and he still proceeded to enter the room. This I considered to be an invasion of my privacy. Since I was home several times it would have been more professional for them to knock.
In Janurary of 2009 I received a letter on my door stating that I owe them $154 more towards my gas bill. When I approached the situation with Rosario, she told me that because previous management was charging the tenants wrong, we must now make up the difference. When trying to work out the situation with her she stated that there is nothing that she can do I just need to hurry up and pay it.
At this point I am now tired of Parke Laurel and would never recommend this complex to anyone. Parke Laurel is the WORST!!! I will be moving out at the end of my lease!!!:)
