Complaint / Review
Days Inn of Albion, Michigan
Poor Hotel Service

Approx. June I went to Days Inn, Albion, MI seeking a room to have an event in August. I inquired about the Banquet room at Days Inn. I spoke with A staff (Angela) and she took my information so that the Manager would contact me. A couple days later the Manager called and we worked out a date and time for me to return to the Hotel.

When I returned, I looked at the Banquet room for the second time. The manager informed me that the room would be painted before our event in August, but no new carpet would be placed in the Banquet Room, but the rug would be shampoo.

On August 17, I had contacted the Hotel prior, to schedule an appt. With the Manager. We arrived earlier than our scheduled appt and the manager was busy, so he allowed the staff (maintenance) to show us the room. At this time we gave the staff a draft of how we wanted the room set-up. We also paid the rental fee for the Banquet Room which was $450.00 for the following days: Thursday, August 23 from 7:00-9:00 P.M., Friday, August 24 from 7:00-9:00 P.M. And Saturday, August 25 from 8:00-12:00 P.M.

On August 23 I arrived approx. 5:00 P.M. And my daughter arrived about 6:00 P.M. As we walked into the entry way that leads to The Banquet Room, there was a unpleasant smell in the room, in the carpet, there were 100 chairs set-up, and one table in front they were all dusty and had to be dusted before they could be sat in (Chairs and table). When discussed with Hotel staff, they felt it was from the rug and offered no solution. I went to the nearest dollar store and purchased 2 cans of Febrez to eliminate the odor in the carpet and in the room.

The room was between 83-84 degrees, the people had arrived for the event were all sweating (water was actually running down our faces from the lack of air condition or fans, and the windows were unable to open. The temperature remained like this for 1 1/2 hrs of the 2 hour event. One fan was brought in with the blade housing on the fan filled with dust, this fan worked for 10-15 min and completely stop functioning.

On August 24 at 9:00 A.M. I telephoned the hotel and spoke with the manager regarding the air condition, he stated, " I had the a.C. Running alnight and will keep it on until the event".

At 6:00 P.M. We arrive at the hotel and the room was already 83 degrees and I again went to the desk to find out what the problem was with the a.C. I was informed at this time that, " the air condition had went out at 2:00 P.M. And now it needed a part, and it was nothing he could do". I insisted that something had to be done, we could not go another night with no air. I inquired about the use of fans and the manager stated, "I'll see what fans I can find". He located a industrial fan from the laundry room and two small fans and this help a little. Before leavng the hotel on August 24, my daughter cancelled the Saturday, August 25 and requested a refund and the Manager said " I don't think you'll receive a refund, because the hotel does not like to give refunds".

I am requesting a full refund of $450.00 for all the inconvenices, the embrassment, and most of all for the poor services.

During the period of August 23- August 24 I communicated all issues we had while at the hotel with the staff and wrote a letter to the head office of Days Inn, because I felt they should know the kind of service their customers are receiving at the hotels. I have not received any verbal or written response from their office.
