In December I Edilberto Gonzales took out a cell phone plan with Rogers. The plan incluided a contract android phone for 3 yrs and a free tablet, since the plan seemed or appear to be good getting a free tablet, I signed up for it along with my wife under my name. Little did I know that for each tablet I would be getting an extra charge every month for $30.00. Realizing this I called Rogers to complain and got no where cause that's when I was made aware that the tablets where also under contract and I was told that to cancel each tablet I will have to pay $400.00 for each tablet. I decided to cancel the tablets and called Rogers once more to do so, however the person that I spoke to over the phone from Rogers made an arrengement with me that as long as the tablets where not being used my charge monthly for each tablet would be $5.00 monthly, the following month when I received the bill in the mail, it was correct just as I expected it to be with a $5.00 charge per tablet. The month after (this month) the bill came and I once more am being charge a $19.00 per each tablet, I then called Rogers to once more enquire about my bill and I was told that my tablets are being used and that's why I was being charged. However the tablets have not being used nor are the even charged as they are stored away, now you can understand this was upsetting to me because I'm being charged for something that I have not used. I pleaded with rogers for more than 2 whole hours being passed on from one person to another from different departments and everyone did nothing, as upset as I was I proceeded to ask for proof of the using the tablets other than just reading from the bill the amount of mega bites that they state I have used and to my surprise they can't give me the detail summery of the usage for each tablet but they claim to see the dates and times on their end and can't provide me with this proof, I then asked what was my fee to cancel the tablets and was told by Rogers that the fee was $500.00 per tablet. My question and what bothers me is under what entity do companies like Rogers follow consumers rights, do they have the power to charge a customer without providing proof only from what they state in their bill that the customer owes? And can they change prizes as they feel like for a customer that wants to pay out from the contract? Under what rules do they abide by or they just do as they want? I'm under contract still for almost 2 more years and I regret ever signing up with Rogers.
