Used me to start up their business then stopped paying me. Rip-off!

I am a single mom on a fixed income who was promised by a word and a handshake to never be broke again. I worked very hard to get vidrio construction of tacoma (framers} going and i did. Now they are getting rich and i am broke and as they told me cant afford to get a lawyer please help me.
