Dixie Chiropractic
I was mislead into believing the firm was a member of my medical PPO

On January 10, I called Dixie Chiropractic, 2669 S. Dixie Hwy, Dayton, Ohio 45409, phone no. 937-643-0893. The first question I asked was if they were a member of my PPO with Anthem Blue Medicare Access Value (Regional PPO). The person who answered the phone said he would check and call me back. When he called back, he said it was ok to make an appointment. I assumed that meant they were a member of my PPO and made an appointment for the next day.

On January 11, the doctor examined me, took x-rays, adjusted me and said I needed to come back the next day. I did go the next day for an adjustment. Nothing was said about cost and I was under the impression my cost was going to be $70.00 ($35.00 each visit). The doctor took me back to the accountant who hit me with a bill for $261.00! I advised her of the conversation with the receptionist and that I thought they were a member of my PPO. She then said Medicare would not pay for x-rays which I was not advised of.

Needless to say, I am still upset with the way I was treated and feel that I was terribly mislead into believing they were a member of my PPO. I had already called two chiropractors who told me they were not a member so I thanked them and called Dixie Chiropractic. If Dixie Chiropractic had said No, they were not a member of my PPO, I would have called Anthem for the name of a member.

I have no complaints about the ability of the doctor; just the fact that I was hit with a charge of $191 over what my copay of $70.00 for 2 daysshould have been.
