I was out of town during a heavy rain storm. Our roof leaked, and my wife called AP Restoration. They had her sign a "Work Authorization" contract before entering the house. They later sent the estimate (that we requested), and a bill for $234. They say that it was an emergency service call, but the only service they performed was testing our insulation for asbestos, which was irrelevant to the fact that the roof was leaking. It seems that Colorado has a statute that contractors have to test for asbestos before doing any work, but we didn't request that they perform any work - we just wanted a bid. My wife shouldn't have signed the contract, and we recommend that nobody do business with AP Restoration.
I am in the construction industry, and I have requested 1000s of bids on small jobs, and I've never been billed for an estimate.
