Our most recent T-Mobile bill showed a charge for $9.99 to our daughter's phone, for a Premium Service provided by Shaboom Media, with the description "88888906150BrnStorm23918" (which meant nothing to any of us). Our daughter hadn't downloaded anything, so we looked up Shaboom Media on the internet and found this complaint site. On looking at the complaints, our daughter remembered having gotten a text message offering free celebrity gossip, which she deleted from her phone without responding. A call to T-Mobile revealed that they think opening such a text is a legitimate way for a third-party provider to bill $9.99. The T-Mobile rep gave me a contact number for Shaboom Media so I could request a refund from them. When pressed about the possibility of T-Mobile removing the charge or refunding our money, the rep said that it would be much quicker if we contacted the third-party provider directly. I called the number I got from T-Mobile, and reached a company called Mobile Support. The rep there told me that we had subscribed to "Storm Select." I told her we hadn't subscribed to anything and requested a reversal or refund of the charges. She took my name and mailing address and told me the "back office" would mail us a check within 7-14 business days. We'll see. If we don't receive the check, we will ask T-Mobile to take care of it, because we are not paying them the ten bucks unless we get this check from Mobile Support. Whether the company sends us a refund or not is irrelevant - to charge people for things they have not requested, accepted, or ordered is still a scam.
