On 4/24 I received a text message from 584-97 Shaboom Media. The text message was ridiculous and I deleted it. I just received another text message from 584-97 which read "Guess what? The reason flamingos are pink is because they eat shrimp which have a red pigment. For help call 18888906150". When I called, the person said the name of the company is Mobile Media, he wanted my name, address, phone, etc. I said, no I'll call the BBB and he hung up. I called my cell phone service provider (AT&T). She said that when I received the first text message, I should have sent the STOP message back. When you don't, they (Shaboom Media) starts a service contract with you that costs $9.95 a month that is billed through your cell phone service provider. It doesn't stop until you contact your provider. Then they put a "purchase blocker" on your account which stops Shaboom media from scamming you again! She said there are hundreds of these scams now. Advise: Check your cell phone bill, reply STOP when you received text messages from those you don't know, and call your cell phone service provider after you receive such messages.
