I made a booking with otels.com and was contacted by a team of their 'fraud department' on email informing me that unless I send them scanned copies of the front and back of my credit card, my photo ID and 3 months bank statements they will proceed to cancel my booking. I contacted the hotel directly and they said the booking was fine, I called otel.com's customer service and they reassured me that it was their mistake to ask for this information and that everything was fine. Within an hour I received an email from the 'fraud department' informing me that my booking was cancelled and I will get a refund. After spending a good hour on the phone to their customer service which is based in Philipines, i was offered as 'compensation' a 2.5% discount ONLY IF i rebooked the same hotel with them even though I haven't received a fully refund yet. They branded this disrespectful 'gesture' as compensation, what a joke! Avoid them like the plague!!
