Good Morning,

In the week of the 14th May i called Barloworld Centurion regarding booking my car in for service. I requested a quotation and i was told that they would call me back to give the quotation. When i was called, i was informed that the service would be around R2500. I then agreed to the quote and booked my car in for 75000km service for the 21st May.

I took my car in that morning and later i received a call to let me know that the service would cost me around R4500 which was now R2000 more than the first quote that i received. I had to cancel that appointment because i knew i did not have that much money in my account. I have never been so embarrased, but to make it worse, I then received another call to let me know that i had to pay about R500 for the time spent checking what needed to be serviced.

I explained to the consultant at that point that i brought my car in as a result of the quotation that i previously received therefore i could not be asked to pay whereas i was the one who was embarrased and inconvenienced. The R500 debt was cancelled and i went to collect my car. I thought this was resolved.

On Monday the 25th June, i booked my car in again for 75000km service. I was giving the 28th June booking. I took my car in again this morning and earlier i received a call from another consultant informing me that the service would cost about R990. I asked the consultant to confirm the quotation because the last time i was told that the same service was about R4500. The consultant then called me back again and confirmed that all major items were changed during 60000km service therefore the service would only cost me R990.

It was difficult and most certainly embarassing for me (as an Accountant) to go and collect my car without the service being done due to lack of funds. This giving the impression that i cannot handle my finances. Now to hear that on the 21st of May i actually had two times the value required but the service was not performed is really infuriating.

This tells me that if i had enough money in May, then i would have paid R3500 more than i was supposed to looking at today's quotation.

I have never been so inconvenienced and embarassed before.
