I saw this deal on craigslist - 4br house for $2700 - I should have known that was a b.S. As that's almost impossible. I guess I wanted to believe. Anyway, I called up the woman asked for the reference number and broke down the deal. Being a dumbass, I gave her my credit card and paid $140 to view the listing and get access to others — I quickly realized after that this was a mistake. #1 NEVER give your credit card to anyone over the phone unless they are are reputable company. #2 do full research on their listings and check to see if they are part of the BBB or Association of REALTORS. #3 check their website and get their mailing address. Look it up on Google Maps (street view)
Luckily, I called my bank and cancelled the charge before it could be processed (since it was pending).
BTW, if you check their address 2355 Westwood Blvd, #273 Los Angeles - you will see it is a Mail Box Etc type place. Have you ever known any reputable realtor with dozens of beautiful property listings NOT to have an actual office?
That's a good hustle though... Easy to go under the radar. Just grab photos of old listings, put up a shit website and charge people. If the potential tenant wants to see the property you just say its already been rented / leased. Great SCAM!
