AT&T Go Phone advised me on 9 June that I could no longer purchase a data plan OR obtain data usage on a pay as I go basis. What they did NOT tell me was that data roaming charges would automatically apply once I crossed the border into Canada. If I could not access the internet in Buffalo on a pay as I go basis, why would I have data roaming in Canada? I was advised by AT&T in Buffalo, NY that the only way I could access the internet was via wireless, which I did BRIEFLY from my apt in Toronto, Canada, where I have wireless in my apt.
What a rude surprise to discover that ALL $231 and change had been stolen from my account by AT&T!!! After an hour on the phone with AT&T GoPhone customer service, instead of refunding the full $231.00 and change they took from my account, they offered to return half. Then after NOT putting in the $115 and change as they said, I called them back. THEN they advised me that they could only return $100.
This behaviour by AT&T is dishonest, misleading and unethical. They should have told me at their *611 number that even though I couldn't obtain pay per use data service, that upon my return to Canada I'd be charged data roaming. How could I have data roaming if I didn't have data pay per use and couldn't purchase a plan? AT&T should refund my full amount and apologise for their business practices.
I have been an AT&T customer since 2007.
Any assistance you can give me would be very much appreciated.
THANK YOU so much in advance for your assistance.
