On 3/28, and again on 4/27, contacts were signed by me, Stephen F Knapp, of 18268 fresh lake way, boca raton, FL 33498, and HillTop Records, 1680 North Vine Street, Ste 321, Holleywood, CA 90028,323-469-3366, KL Weaver, President of HillTop Records. I sent them my copywrited songs on a CD and HillTop and they promised to arrange, rerecord, market, and distribute my selected songs, as well as others, culminating into a CD called "America. The contracts specify that $3.20 royalty, to be equally shared between all songwriters, would be paid for each CD sold. There are additional promises for bonuses and commercial uses on any of my songs.
The initial letter to me lists such famous artists as Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand, Toney Bennett, Bette Midler and others as performers who have used HillTop's " award winning professional musicians, arrangers and producers."
HillTop asked for a screening fee of $399 which is fully refunded if a song is not accepted, I fell for their offer twice, hence, I sent two checks separately about a month apart for two of my songs. The contracts appear very legitimate.
