Claims we bought liability insurance only, ripoff

We bought a brand new 2003 Ford Ranger and called Progressive to add this truck to our account. We explained that we have a lein holder and required full insurance to include comp/collision & liability. We also purchased "gap" insurance from Ford Credit when buying the truck so that would cover us if we had an accident where the truck is totaled so it would be fully covered and we would only have the deductible as an out of pocket expense.

A year later my husband was involved in an accident resulting in over 5,000.00 in damage to the truck. We called Progressive and were informed that we only had liability insurance and that they were not going to cover the claim. They claim that we refused the comp/collision coverage.

I know full well I did not refuse the comp/collision because I knew we requested full coverage since we have a lien holder and we did not want to have to pay to fix the truck if an accident should occur. They said they would pull the recorded phone record and look into the situation.

They claim they can not find the phone call and that we are out of luck since we got declaration pages they expect us to be the experts (as they claim they are) and know what all the insurance jargan means. The purchase of the "gap" insurance would be useless to us unless we have full coverage insurance, which is obviously what we requested from Progressive

All it boils down to is that Progressive made a HUGE mistake and will not own up to the fact that they did. I have since called Progressive requesting an insurance quote and have been informed several times that they can't sell me a policy without comp/collision when there is a lien holder, but somehow they sold one to us.

They are liars, cheaters, and will not stand behind what they advertise which is that when you call them you get a licensed professional to help you. Well if I had a licensed professional helping me why did they sell me they wrong policy and won't own up to it and make it right.

I have even offered to pay whatever additional premium that would have been needed, and you should also know that once this mistake was brought to their attention our policy changed and now we have that full coverage on a truck that we can't drive but have to pay more insurance on now.

Progressive is a horrible company and should not be trusted what so ever.
